DDR5 Memory is out now!

The top memory brands are now producing a growing range of DDR5 modules to support new DDR5 systems and motherboards releasing from the end of 2021. We are continuing to add new laptop, desktop and server models to our database as they become available. Below are some of the main improvements DDR5 has made over DDR4.

• 50% increase in clock speed at launch
• Dual-channel mode on a single module
• 4x chip density to accommodate much greater volume per module
• Speeds starting at 4,800MHz and reaching 8,400MHz or greater
• Consumes up to 10% less power extending battery life and reducing running costs
• 1.36x more effective bandwidth when compared at 3200MHz speed
• Faster burst speeds for increased data throughput
• As DDR5 technology matures it will bring further improvements including larger memory sizes and even higher speeds

Can I upgrade to DDR5?

To use DDR5 memory you will need a computer or motherboard that was manufactured from late 2021 and that supports DDR5. If produced prior to this then it won't support DDR5. Please click the button below to find your computer model and upgrade options.

Should I replace my Computer or Motherboard to support DDR5?

For the average home user upgrading your current system is more cost effective than buying a new system purely for DDR5. However if your current system is at it's maximum capacity and you want better performance and speed then a new DDR5 system is a good option. Don't forget to see if an SSD upgrade could speed up your current computer first.

Remember that it's often cheaper overall to buy your new system with the lowest memory option, and to upgrade to the capacity you want with Mr Memory (please check your model is upgradable first).
