What is the BIOS

BIOS simply stands for Basic Input Output System.

The BIOS controls the different pieces of Hardware connected in the machine, and allows you to change settings to change the behavior of certain devices.

Whilst usually the normal day to day home user will never have to enter the BIOS to change settings, sometimes a BIOS Update is required when installing new memory to allow the BIOS to read the new memory.
