Asus Eee PC Netbooks – 2Gb Upgrade

When upgrading your Asus Eee PC Netbook with a 2Gb module you will sometimes need to follow a few extra steps so that you can benefit from the increased speed of your machine.

If you have installed a 2Gb module and your machine is still only showing 1Gb (1024Mb) in the system settings then you will need to follow the steps below:

Make sure the Machine is turned off.

1. Press the power Button

2. While the machine is starting to Boot keep Pressing ‘F2′ until the Machine enters the BIOS.

3. Once the BIOS has loaded Press ‘F10′ to restore the BIOS to the Default Settings.

4. Save and Exit the BIOS Settings and the machine should boot as normal.

Check the amount of memory installed on the system properties and this should now show the correct amount of memory as 2Gb (2048Mb).

Please Note: These should be the correct keys to press, but it may differ slightly, also the wording may not be the same for ‘Restoring to Default Settings’, but it should state which key to press once in the BIOS, usually at the bottom of the screen.

Once this is done, you can now enjoy the new lease of life you have given your Netbook, you will also notice programs and files will load faster.
